“Tom Storms is an outstanding fitness instructor in every regard. He is extremely knowledgeable about weight training, fitness and nutrition. His strength lies in being just the right combination of motivator, educator and enforcer. He carefully pushed me beyond my perceived limits, building and defining muscles, to make a breakthrough in my fitness level. I would highly recommend him without reservation to anyone who wants to make a true transformation.” Georgianna Duxbury, M.D. Reno, NV |
I’ve Been Training Private Clients In Reno Since 1992. You Are Never Isolated When You Move In Real Life, So Why Would You Ever Train That Way?
The Process
First I start with a meeting. We’ll sit down, you’ll tell me what you’re looking for, and I’ll tell you my philosophy and method.
This is basically to make sure that all goals are realistic and expectations are placed appropriately.
What’s your end and what’s mine.
From there, if we agree and get along with each other, we hammer out the schedule and times.
If our availabilities match, then we start.

“After a disappointing wrestling season I turned to Tom and his STORMSTRENGTH training system to increase my strength and athletic performance. After training for only a few months I have already noticed a huge difference, my coach said I’m not even the same wrestler that I was last year. By doing things that no coach has had me do, and by adding olympic lifts to my weight training program, I have been able to dominate my division this year and continue my walk to the state championship. I am now lighter than I was, but stronger and faster. There is no doubt that this has taken my ability and performance to a whole new level.” Sean Neely, High School Athlete |
I start with all the basic primal movement patterns that EVERYONE is born being able to do. This tells me where your weaknesses are, and how you will be able to move forward toward your goal.
Based on your specific goal, you’ll be given phase 1. When you implement phase 1, I’ll know. Same as I’ll know if you’re not following phase 1. I’ll see it, and so will you.
If you never fully apply phase 1, I will not move you to phase 2. You only get moved up if you’ve applied and completed all aspects of a phase.

”When I started with Tom I needed to gain weight. At 14, I was 6′3? and 170lbs, and trying to improve my baseball abilities. After training with Tom for only a few months, this is what I was able to achieve:
I do not hesitate to recommend Tom’s program to any athlete at any level who wants to see improvement.” Sam Elvick, Young Athlete: High School Freshman |
My system is designed to be progressive. All levels can benefit. As advanced as you may be, I can get more out of you. Phases go up to 5. What does a STORMstrength level 5 look like?

A Few More things About Me
I don’t use many machines, and in the summer I like to train outside, preferably on a football field with a track.
I believe in training the way we live, on our feet, where most injuries occur.
I believe the body and it’s systems need to be challenged at the same time, not in isolation.
I know that if you are moving correctly, working at an appropriate level, you won’t be overweight or experiencing chronic pain or fatigue.
That’s what I do and how I do it. I realize this isn’t for everyone. Most of my clients are men, most are between 30-50 years old.
Someone asked me who I think I’m most suited for, and I would just say, anyone who ever was an athlete, or wants to be an athlete.
I say that because, anyone who ever was an athlete (high school for most people) always remembers how good it felt to be good at something. Especially something physically, because it comes with so many other benefits.
Also because any former athlete understand the concept of short term sacrifice for long term greater gain. They understand that doing this now, will feel good later that day, and the next day. And they like that.
That’s who I’m here to train. Everyone is an athlete on the inside. My clients are everyday athletes.
If that sounds good to you, call me. If not, forward this page to someone you think will appreciate it.

I have had the pleasure of working with Tom Storms for the past two years. Tom is not the first personal trainer that I have worked with. In fact, he is the fourth. But he is, without a doubt, the best. Tom’s evaluation of my physical status and work-out goals was, easily, the most thorough of any previous trainer. This has proven to be more important than I originally thought. By being able to better match my exercise requirements with realistic expectations my compliance and motivation were greatly improved. Throughout, Tom has continued to evaluate progress and adjust goals as mutually agreed. This has allowed me to advance in a stepwise fashion by reaching one attainable goal after another. My attitude has remained good throughout these two years. Unlike any of my previous trainers, Tom’s attention to the details of any particular movement can only be described as thoroughly professional. With the other guys all I did was push the weight. Occasionally they might change my position or give me a little lecture. Most of the time I just pushed weight and the trainer talked about their personal life. Tom has proven to me that doing a movement the correct way is the most important factor. I have seen positive changes in my posture, gait, and ability to effectively carry out everyday physical tasks. With time, the amount of weight I’m able to move has increased. But I’m not hung-up on how much. Macho now means being in the correct anatomical position throughout any movement. What a difference! Also of great importance is the fact that Tom is the most reliable and responsible trainer I have ever worked with. You know, no matter how good someone is at what they do, if they don’t show up, it’s meaningless. Tom is always there and always on time. I simply have learned to respect Tom and enjoy my time in the gym. Quite a feat for an old fat guy. Michael J. Glass, M.D. Reno, Nevada |
Keep This In Mind… This is it- this is your life…
…it’s not a dress rehearsal. If you don’t like some aspect of the way it’s going, you have to make a change. Don’t continue to do exactly the same things you did last year and expect a different result this year.
Is a personal trainer right for you? My training program gives you the tools to reclaim your body, get your life back, or make your life better.
